Wednesday 04th March

Joining a well established band can always be a scary experience – wondering how you will fit in with your new band mates, hoping the critics will take to you but most nerve wracking must be the expectation of the fans that may have lost their favourite band member. Now add to all this a lineage that started over 40 years ago with ERIC CLAPTON, MICK TAYLOR, WALTER TROUT and COCO MONTOYA and you may start to feel what it must have been like for Buddy Whittington in 1993 when he was asked by JOHN MAYALL to become the latest member of the musical elite that is the BLUESBREAKERS

Saturday 07th March

DJ Dance Night. Dance the night away to the energy, sound and innocence of sweet 60’s soul music! As soul music turned into funk in the late-Sixties, disillusioned kids from the North of England fed up with the ‘pop’ scene began to turn their tastes backward, scouring the racks for rare Motown and Detroit soul they hadn't heard yet. Dave Godin, who ran the Soul City record shop in London, developed the term ‘Northern Soul’ in 1968 to refer to obscure soul being bought by fans from the North of the country. Manchester's Twisted Wheel club was the first to cater to this phenomenon, starting in 1963; by 1967, the Saturday "all-nighters" of up tempo rare soul had gained in popularity. So join us at the Tunnels with music provided by our resident DJ playing 45's from many labels like Staxs,  Atlantic, and or course Tamla Motown.Keep the faith!

Nathan has a deep passion for helping people. As he started to record videos and post them on Facebook, people started to ask if he could write songs about certain situations they were going through.  Some of the stories really touched him, so he went ahead and wrote songs for those people and anyone else suffering the same situation, in the hope it would help them in some way.

Blues Caravan .... GIRLZ WITH GUITARS £10.00 Adv

Tuesday 28th April

Ruf Records Blues Caravan 2015: Girls with Guitars They're back – like you've never seen them before! Ruf Records first presented the "Girls With Guitars" in 2011. The three electrifying musicians on that year's edition of the Blues Caravan tour caused such euphoria among international blues audiences that they were back by popular demand the following year. Now, starting in January 2015, the 11th annual Blues Caravan takes to the road with three new, young and dynamic "Girls With Guitars" who are ready to conquer the blues world. Hailing from northern Italy, Eliana Cargnelutti is an award-winning singer and guitarist who can do it all. During her budding career, she has worked in a number of different musical genres – but the blues has a special place in her heart. She has already shared the stage with the Crème de la Crème of the Italian blues scene and has also collaborated with renowned American jazz and blues guitarist Scott Henderson. Influenced by contemporary masters such as Bonnie Raitt, Ana Popovic and Joe Bonamassa, Cargnelutti combines boundless energy with impressive technical chops. Sadie Johnson may be the youngest musician ever on the Blues Caravan – but this 18-year-old wunderkind has already made quite a name for herself. The native of Bloomington, Indiana has proven equally adept at playing classic old-school country blues like Robert Johnson and modern-day blues-rock like her hero Eric Clapton. Leading female artists like Samantha Fish and Susan Tedeschi have encouraged her commitment to the blues. Johnson released her first EP with her band project Sad Sam Blues Jam in 2013, enabling her to break out nationally in the USA. Heather Crosse, a respected bassist from Clarksdale, Mississippi, provides the earthy foundation. Her band Heavy Suga‘ & the SweeTones has appeared frequently at the world-famous Ground Zero Blues Club and has performed at major festivals, opening for B.B. King, Robert Plant and others. As a singer, Crosse looks to soul and blues icons like Etta James, Koko Taylor and Big Mama Thornton for inspiration. Together with drummer Denis Palatin, a Blues Caravan veteran, she'll drive the rhythm section with strength and precision. In the summer of 2014, Crosse, Johnson und Cargnelutti paid a visit to legendary producer Jim Gaines. The album they recorded at his home studio near Memphis will be released just in time for the Blues Caravan Tour 2015. If that recording is any indication, the new line-up may just have what it takes to top the "Girls With Guitars" of the past! For further information visit: www.bluescaravan.com

Friday 15th May

PAUL YOUNG’S LOS PACAMINOS   On a bleak November day in London in 1993, Paul was pondering how to break the album/promotion/tour routine that to be honest, was becoming a little predictable after 10 years of being a solo performer. And anyways, he missed the camaraderie of just being a band member…. So he called around some of his friends and members of his previous line-ups through the years to find out who would be interested in forming a loose, relaxed Tex-Mex group for some impromptu gigs. This music, from the working class bars of West Texas, brought the atmosphere of the sun soaked expanse of the great state of Texas into a dingy rehearsal room seated beneath a massive flyover in West London.  This meeting of friends became a regular fixture and the good feeling generated by these rehearsals drove the momentum of the music forward.  Paul and the guys decided that it might be fun to play some local bars just for the hell of it.  Soon the band had formed into a regular six piece playing cover tunes by the likes of the Texas Tornados and Ry Cooder, and a few R&B standards given the Tex-Mex treatment.

His last release Temple Beautiful, was a homage to his adopted home town of San Francisco, and earned accolades such as "Not since Lou Reed paid homage to the city and era that forged him with New York has there been a song cycle dedicated to a place and reality that offers the core immediacy with the thump, churn and ferocity of Chuck Prophet’s Temple Beautiful" (Paste). He's got a new record out soon which promises all this and more. Chuck Prophet loves Bristol (it's a real guitar town he says) and Bristol loves him, and it's a pleasure to welcome him back.

Roxy Magic are proud to annonce that their newest recruit is Chris Garfield on lead guitar.  Chris was a founder member of jimmy James`s Vagabonds and has recently completed a four year tour with Paul Carrack who famously played keyboards with Roxy Music.  The addition of Chris on lead guitar takes Roxy magic to an even higher level of musicianship and professionalism!     As seen on BBC TV & endorsed by Bryan Ferry himself! Roxy Magic are without doubt the UK's No.1 Roxy Music tribute band. All the hits are flawlessly performed in this authentic tribute show. We create, entirely live, material that spans four decades; from futurist/nostalgic art rock, through classic standards to sophisticated adult-oriented rock. Our aim is to give the audience a fabulously entertaining evening... Stipe have been around since 1996. Formed by Rick Southern, the original line-up gigged mainly in the North of England and Scotland. Over the next few years Rick also fronted Midlands based "Monster" playing many gigs throughout the U.K and Europe, honing and perfecting Michael Stipe's very individual stage persona. In 2002, Rick decided it was time for a new Stipe  This line-up debuted on January 1st 2003, and over the next few years built up an enviable reputation as an authentic and entertaining tribute, playing all over the UK with regular visits to Ireland and also Europe. During this time the band's web site became the most popular on search engines Google and MSN, and the vast majority of venues - from small clubs to huge festivals - have made regular return bookings Stipe performing live for Michael Stipe (who described the band as 'awesome') on BBC's “The One Show”, and have been described by Bang! magazine as “an R.E.M. fan's wet dream”

Geno originates from Evansville in Indiana, USA and first came to England in the 1960's as part of the US Air Force. His love of Blues and Soul music soon found him jamming with local bands in and around Ipswich and eventually led him to London where he caused a sensation singing with top R&B acts Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames and Zoot Money's Big Roll Band at the legendary Flamingo Club in Soho. The rest, as they say, is history.   Geno teamed up with some of London's hottest musicians and Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band very quickly became established as the most exciting live band in Britain, regularly topping the bill over World famous artistes, as nobody in their right mind wanted to go on stage after a Geno show!
