Wayne Ellis Bassist, vocalist and supreme entertainer... "as close as you can possibly get to the late great Philip Lynott himself". The accolades are a tribute in themselves to the time, love and sheer determination that Wayne has put into building Limehouse Lizzy up to the position they find themselves in today - suitably rewarded in 2001 with the title "Live Band Of The Year" by Guitarist Magazine. However, he is no mimic, he is no impressionist. A Leo like Phil himself, Wayne just has that natural charisma and style that Phil once displayed. One critic summed it all up in a live review.... "all the time there is Wayne Ellis, the memory of Thin Lizzy will be kept very much alive and well, thank you!"...

Kevin Montgomery grew up on Nashville’s Music Row, as a child of parents whose careers crossed over from country music to the early, seminal days of American rock ‘n’ roll. While the contemporary yet timeless feel of Kevin’s own music is strongly influenced by the ‘California Country-Rock’ of artists like Gram Parsons, The Eagles, and Roger McGuinn, his deeply resonant songwriting recalls the Americana-flavored storytelling of Bruce Springsteen and Jackson Browne.

The Wiyos. Tickets £12 ADV

Sunday 19th February

"The Wiyos made it the hard way. Named after a 19th-century New York Irish street gang, they started out in Brooklyn nine years ago, and developed their slick, rhythmic and unpredictable style as they travelled across the States. They spent time in New Orleans and busked on the streets when they couldn't get gigs. Now, after a personal invitation from Bob Dylan to join him on tour, they look set to become celebrities of the Americana scene.Based very loosely on The Wizard of Oz, their new album is their mostadventurous to date, a collage of ragtime, vaudeville, blues and jazz, with a dash of close-harmony vocals, scat, twanging surf-guitar work and tuneful pop balladry added in. This is (mostly) old-time music played with contagious enthusiasm and given a contemporary twist, with most of the songs switching between different styles. Mary mixes stomping harmonica-backedblues with a scat workout, Penny Arcade matches quirky balladry with a brassy New Orleans stomp, and the theatrical Mama is an accordion-backed psych-folk horror tale that shows off their fine harmony vocals. They are touring here next month and should be worth checking out."

With millions of album sales and concert attendances worldwide, Wishbone Ash’s heritage as one of the most enduring and best loved British rock acts is assured. Wishbone Ash was formed by West Country musicians Martin Turner and Steve Upton, who arrived in London in 1969 to embark on their musical journey. Intent on creating a musical sound that was rich in texture and melody, Martin Turner envisaged the band’s innovative harmony-guitar hallmark and guitarists Ted Turner and Andy Powell were recruited via a now legendary Melody Maker advert. The partnership of the original line-up of Wishbone Ash forged a unique musical identity that would produce some of rock music's best loved works and influence numerous successful bands. Saturday 17th March

The Dualers are Britain’s much loved Ska and Reggae band from the South of England who have steadily built up a following of many thousands of truly dedicated fans across all ages and have sold out at the Indigo O2 a record breaking 4 times within 18 months. In 2004 their first single ‘Kiss On The Lips’ entered the UK charts at number 21, selling 14,000 copies and out-selling chart heavyweights Scissor Sisters and Girls Aloud in its first week. The video was the most requested on satellite channel StarzTV for six consecutive weeks, replacing Sean Kingston’s ‘Beautiful Girl’ at the Number One position. Their second single ‘Truly Madly Deeply’ was another chart success, entering at number 23 in November 2005 and the song was subsequently featured on the ‘Fools Gold’ soundtrack of the film starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. Increased media interest saw The Dualers appearing on GMTV, This Morning, Sky News and Channel 5 News. The third chart single in 2006 “Don’t Go” was followed by release of their debut album ‘The Melting Pot’ and helped establish The Dualers as one of the most respected names on the UK Ska and Reggae scene. Q Magazine said “The Dualers soulful harmonising has admirable echoes of Bob Marley and Sam Cooke” and The Independent wrote “These local superstars are inching towards fame”. They have already performed with headline acts including Toots & The Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Prince Buster, Madness and Aswad and supported UB40. The second album ‘The Cooking Pot’ also sold out its first pressing within a month. The Dualers are currently in the studio recording their third album due for release in the summer of 2012. The band continue to perform on a regular basis to fans from all over Ska was created in downtown Kingston, Jamaica, when American airwaves switched from jazz to rock & roll. The majority of Jamaicans listening from their radios, hundreds of miles away, could not adjust to this new rhythm and beat, so they took it upon themselves to create a rhythm that their people could call their own. By mixing Caribbean styles such as mento with jazz, ska music was born. As much as the Jamaicans tried to promote their national music, the 60s proved to be too hard to penetrate. With bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones ruling the airwaves, Jamaica’s national music was rarely heard.

Their subsequent albums ‘Sleaze-a-Billy’ and ‘From The Waist Down’ (voted album of the year by Viva le Punk) and ‘Hairdos and Heartaches’ have brought national airplay and TV appearances, high billing at the massive Rockabilly Rave Festivals in the US and UK, a West Coast tour and an appearances at Viva Las Vegas, Glastonbury and Isle of Wight festivals.

The trio’s enduring appeal owes much to their mastery of and feel for the ZZ Top form. From the beginning they took a hard-rocking power-trio approach to the blues, cultivating a new audience for the bands earlier work as well as mixing in the MTV classics from the Eighties with superior musicianship as well as attitude, style and some devilishly funny songs.

Monday 16th April

Californian alt-rock hero Chuck Prophet (formerly of Green on Red) makes a welcome return to the UK in 2012 with the release of his new LP Temple Beautiful (Yep Roc) on March 5, 2012.  In support of the album, Prophet will play the Barbican - supporting the Jayhawks - on March 8.  Headline shows are to be announced shortly.   Himself a longstanding San Franciscan, in Temple Beautiful Prophet has penned an unflinchingly visceral love letter to his adopted hometown of over three decades. Named after the city’s now defunct notorious punk rock club (located within the ill-fated Jim Jones People’s Temple) where a young Prophet himself cut his teeth watching the likes of the Flamin’ Groovies supported by Black Flag, both the title track and album resonate with tales from America’s most vibrant outpost city.   Across the album, Prophet animates his city’s most notorious moments with his characteristic candour and guitar intricacies. He turns over lyrical matter including a Halloween homicide in his colourful home district of Castro, the assassination of Harvey Milk, and the seismic effect of the AIDS epidemic upon the laissez faire ethos which had hitherto characterised the sanctuary of the Beats and the Summer of Love.

To some, Sarah doesn't need much of an introduction. After spending 14 years in Cradle Of Filth as a backing singer, singing on all of their albums apart from the first and the latest one, she also spent 6 years in Therion and Mortiis. Sarah has sung on over 35 albums with bands including The Kovenant (In which "Nexus Polaris" won a grammy award for), The Gathering, Mystic Circle, Trigger The Bloodshed, Mensrea (GWAR side project), Graveworm, Tulus (Name later changed to Khold), Creations Tears (Features ex Paradise Lost drummer Lee Morris) and many others. She has been part of many DVDs and books and finally, in 2005, joined forces with Chris Rehn (Ex Evergrey/Abyssos) and created Angtoria in which she took center vocals. Angtoria signed to Listenable Records and released "God Has A Plan For Us All" and received an amazing response in Europe. Sadly, Sarah still favored Cradle Of Filth and Angtoria took a back seat. In 2008, Sarah decided it was time to walk away from Cradle of Filth and follow her heart and released "A Sign Of Sublime" on a UK based record label and then later signed to Candlelight USA.

Dire Streets. Tickets £8 ADV, £10 OTD

Friday 29th June

Dire Streets are fronted by John Brunsdon, a lifelong guitar picker and admirer of Mark Knopfler’s unique style of playing. In 2009 John formed the band after meeting drummer Dik Chandler who has played with several leading tribute acts such as Wholelottaled and Are You Experienced. It took quite some time to source the quality line-up of musicians but audience’s reaction to Dire Streets performances so far have made all the hard work  worthwhile and fulfilling. The bands set include shorter songs from the early era such as ‘Lady Writer’ right through to complex album tracks such as ‘Telegraph Road’. No night would be complete without ‘Sultans of Swing’ which gets a special rendition over 12 minutes long! Dire Streets make no attempt to look like the original so no headbands and pink suits! Just brilliant guitar playing and songs skilfully arranged with the enthusiasm, attention to detail and respect they deserve. One owner of a club where the band appeared at recently remarked “At last! A decent tribute to Dire Straits”

Saturday 14th July

The Stage said ;  'An explosive start to the evening was provided by Big Mac's Wholly Soul Band. This is the way to play soul and Motown-a full ten piece band, great brass section, girl backing singers, pulsating rhythm section and Big Mac himself on lead vocals-not only great musicianship but also a great performance. I am not surprised that it is one of the most popular outfits in South Wales, as it was absolutely superb. If you book corporate functions or summer balls and want a great dance band, you could do a lot worse. This is a truly hot band.'
