The Sadies with special guests The Howlin Brothers Tickets £15adv

Thursday 23rd October

Whether it's their awesome musicianship, their signature blend of country, rock, blues, garage, psychedelia, surf music and spaghetti western themes (sometimes in the same song) their devastating live performances (often containing fifteen song encores if the mood takes them), their collaborations with artists as diverse as Neko Case, Neil Young and Buffy Sainte-Marie or their unique ability to take on anything and come up on top, one thing's for certain. The Sadies are completely unique.  They haven't toured Europe for ages, so  here's a rare opportunity to find out why many people consider them to be one of the finest bands in the world. “If you're looking for the future of Americana, it's in Toronto” – R2 magazine. It's the masterpiece that you'd expect and this will be their first UK together in decades. The Delines Tickets £14adv

The Delines Tickets £14adv

Tuesday 04th November

The Delines were formed when Richmond Fontaine's Willy Vlautin heard the heartbreakingly beautiful voice of Amy Boone and wrote an album, Colfax Avenue, especially for her. He called upon friends such as fellow Rfer Sean Oldham, The Decembrists' Jenny Conlee-Drizos and pedal steel legend Tucker Jackson to play on it and they in turn decided to put the show on the road. Their Bristol debut earlier this year sold out weeks before and attracted comments such as: “As ever Vlautin's songs were tightly drawn short stories of people trying to get by. There was sister looking for her younger war-damaged brother (Colfax Avenue), the 45-year old woman who can't run away from her dead-end life (State Line), the woman paying the price for having married a drunken drifter (He Told Her The City Was Killing Him), the girl desperate to escape from her mundane life for just one night (I Won't Slip Up). Sounds pretty downbeat? Well it would have been if the songs hadn't been so exceptionally well written and the musicianship quite so good.” 9/10. Keith Clark – Bristol Evening Post. As an award winning novelist (The Motel Life, The Free) Willie Vlautin is used to praise  - "He writes with sympathy and compassion for the downtrodden, many of whom are defined by an aching loneliness and a fear of love's shattering consequences.”  Wall Street Journal. With its background of bleak landscapes and hard luck losers Colfax Avenue is as good as anything he has done, and is sure to be considered to be one of the albums of the year

Saturday 07th March

DJ Dance Night. Dance the night away to the energy, sound and innocence of sweet 60’s soul music! As soul music turned into funk in the late-Sixties, disillusioned kids from the North of England fed up with the ‘pop’ scene began to turn their tastes backward, scouring the racks for rare Motown and Detroit soul they hadn't heard yet. Dave Godin, who ran the Soul City record shop in London, developed the term ‘Northern Soul’ in 1968 to refer to obscure soul being bought by fans from the North of the country. Manchester's Twisted Wheel club was the first to cater to this phenomenon, starting in 1963; by 1967, the Saturday "all-nighters" of up tempo rare soul had gained in popularity. So join us at the Tunnels with music provided by our resident DJ playing 45's from many labels like Staxs,  Atlantic, and or course Tamla Motown.Keep the faith!
