Quadrophonia - The Who tribute tickets £10adv

Quadrophonia - The Who tribute tickets £10adv

Saturday 31st January

...a nice rock’n'roll band from Shepherds Bush... Quadrophonia are a tasty tribute band playing the music of THE WHO! Not a Who covers band,a complete tribute to The Who, performing a 'Who Show' They’ve been touring round now for a number of years and are building up a following They line up as a four piece as The Who did in their golden era and it is this era's Live at Leeds / early 70's sight and sound they emulate. Originally formed to perform Quadrophenia, hence the name, Quadrophonia have broadened their set to include Tommy and all the hits from the classic albums. Hiwatt Amps, Rickenbacker and SG guitars, white boiler suits and Dr Martens, loony drummers, skeleton suits, mic's whirling arms windmilling and cymbals crashing all over the place.... Watch out! and lock up your daughters! Quadrophonia are performing in a town near you! Quadrophonia currently play two 1hour 30min sets which can be loosly described as a 60's Set and a 70's Set but they have mixed them up for a bit of variety The first set starts of with all classic early numbers like I Can't Explain, Substitute, Young Man Blues, A Quick One and includes a Live At Leeds style Tommy Set including Amazing Journey, Sparks, Acid Queen, Pinball Wizard and climaxes to a finish with See Me Feel Me. Quick trip to the bar to get some refreshments.....purely medicinal of course and then it all starts again! The second set kicks off with hits more from the 70's such as The Seeker and Baba O'Riley. The Real Me marks the start of a mini set from the concept album Quadrophenia including 5:15, Drowned and Bell Boy. From there Quadrophonia take numbers from the classic Whos Next, such as My Wife, Bargain and Behind Blue Eyes, throw in other later hits such as Squeeze Box and Long Live Rock and Who fan favs like Dreaming From The Waist and climax to a finish with some oldies such as Magic Bus and finish with Won't Get Fooled Again and My Generation .....what else? ......come and see what you think! ..LONG LIVE ROCK!   WWW.WHOTRIBUTE.CO.UK https://www.facebook.com/whotribute?fref=ts THE LAST RESORT DJ Spinning all the hits of Ska Reggae,Motown,Bluebeat and Northern Soul https://www.facebook.com/groups/152171871519024/?fref=ts

Monday 16th February

Based around the fraternal triumvirate of Sam, Abe and James Wilson (father is William Wilson, hence the name) Sons of Bill play effortlessly classic American roots rock, reminiscent of a range of artists stretching from Townes Van Zandt to early REM, yet all the time including a unique quality that's earned them comparisons to a countrified Pink Floyd. Southern to the core, with dreamy pedal steel, banjo, and three part harmonies that could have only been learned at church, and with fiery live act, they're the stand-out Americana band of 2014. “Lush and lovely” – Rolling Stone.

Northern Soul Time - A night of pure sweet sixties Soul Music Tickets £6adv

Saturday 07th March

DJ Dance Night. Dance the night away to the energy, sound and innocence of sweet 60’s soul music! As soul music turned into funk in the late-Sixties, disillusioned kids from the North of England fed up with the ‘pop’ scene began to turn their tastes backward, scouring the racks for rare Motown and Detroit soul they hadn't heard yet. Dave Godin, who ran the Soul City record shop in London, developed the term ‘Northern Soul’ in 1968 to refer to obscure soul being bought by fans from the North of the country. Manchester's Twisted Wheel club was the first to cater to this phenomenon, starting in 1963; by 1967, the Saturday "all-nighters" of up tempo rare soul had gained in popularity. So join us at the Tunnels with music provided by our resident DJ playing 45's from many labels like Staxs,  Atlantic, and or course Tamla Motown.Keep the faith!

Blues Caravan .... GIRLZ WITH GUITARS £10.00 Adv

Tuesday 28th April

Ruf Records Blues Caravan 2015: Girls with Guitars They're back – like you've never seen them before! Ruf Records first presented the "Girls With Guitars" in 2011. The three electrifying musicians on that year's edition of the Blues Caravan tour caused such euphoria among international blues audiences that they were back by popular demand the following year. Now, starting in January 2015, the 11th annual Blues Caravan takes to the road with three new, young and dynamic "Girls With Guitars" who are ready to conquer the blues world. Hailing from northern Italy, Eliana Cargnelutti is an award-winning singer and guitarist who can do it all. During her budding career, she has worked in a number of different musical genres – but the blues has a special place in her heart. She has already shared the stage with the Crème de la Crème of the Italian blues scene and has also collaborated with renowned American jazz and blues guitarist Scott Henderson. Influenced by contemporary masters such as Bonnie Raitt, Ana Popovic and Joe Bonamassa, Cargnelutti combines boundless energy with impressive technical chops. Sadie Johnson may be the youngest musician ever on the Blues Caravan – but this 18-year-old wunderkind has already made quite a name for herself. The native of Bloomington, Indiana has proven equally adept at playing classic old-school country blues like Robert Johnson and modern-day blues-rock like her hero Eric Clapton. Leading female artists like Samantha Fish and Susan Tedeschi have encouraged her commitment to the blues. Johnson released her first EP with her band project Sad Sam Blues Jam in 2013, enabling her to break out nationally in the USA. Heather Crosse, a respected bassist from Clarksdale, Mississippi, provides the earthy foundation. Her band Heavy Suga‘ & the SweeTones has appeared frequently at the world-famous Ground Zero Blues Club and has performed at major festivals, opening for B.B. King, Robert Plant and others. As a singer, Crosse looks to soul and blues icons like Etta James, Koko Taylor and Big Mama Thornton for inspiration. Together with drummer Denis Palatin, a Blues Caravan veteran, she'll drive the rhythm section with strength and precision. In the summer of 2014, Crosse, Johnson und Cargnelutti paid a visit to legendary producer Jim Gaines. The album they recorded at his home studio near Memphis will be released just in time for the Blues Caravan Tour 2015. If that recording is any indication, the new line-up may just have what it takes to top the "Girls With Guitars" of the past! For further information visit: www.bluescaravan.com

Friday 15th May

PAUL YOUNG’S LOS PACAMINOS   On a bleak November day in London in 1993, Paul was pondering how to break the album/promotion/tour routine that to be honest, was becoming a little predictable after 10 years of being a solo performer. And anyways, he missed the camaraderie of just being a band member…. So he called around some of his friends and members of his previous line-ups through the years to find out who would be interested in forming a loose, relaxed Tex-Mex group for some impromptu gigs. This music, from the working class bars of West Texas, brought the atmosphere of the sun soaked expanse of the great state of Texas into a dingy rehearsal room seated beneath a massive flyover in West London.  This meeting of friends became a regular fixture and the good feeling generated by these rehearsals drove the momentum of the music forward.  Paul and the guys decided that it might be fun to play some local bars just for the hell of it.  Soon the band had formed into a regular six piece playing cover tunes by the likes of the Texas Tornados and Ry Cooder, and a few R&B standards given the Tex-Mex treatment.

Geno originates from Evansville in Indiana, USA and first came to England in the 1960's as part of the US Air Force. His love of Blues and Soul music soon found him jamming with local bands in and around Ipswich and eventually led him to London where he caused a sensation singing with top R&B acts Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames and Zoot Money's Big Roll Band at the legendary Flamingo Club in Soho. The rest, as they say, is history.   Geno teamed up with some of London's hottest musicians and Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band very quickly became established as the most exciting live band in Britain, regularly topping the bill over World famous artistes, as nobody in their right mind wanted to go on stage after a Geno show!
